Care Instructions

Proper handling and maintenance will protect your wooden benchtops and tabletops from environmental stresses and preserve their quality. Follow these guidelines to maintain the integrity and appearance of your solid timber investment:

1. End Grain Sealing

Sealing the end grain is the first and most important task you must complete to help protect your laminated timber. Changes in temperature and weather can cause unwanted movement if the end grain is not sealed.

2. Storage Conditions

Moisture and Climate Protection: Keep the wooden benchtops or tabletops away from moisture, direct sunlight, intense heat or wind.

Ground Storage: Do not store the tops on bare ground. Instead, store them on slats, loosely wrapped in plastic in a sheltered situation.

Positioning: Store the tops vertically, on the edge, to prevent warping or damage.

3. Surface Treatment

Apply sealant or polish to all faces and edges of the tops as promptly as possible to further shield the wood from moisture and environmental factors.

4. Installation Timing

Ensure you install the wooden benchtop or tabletop on-site only after construction has reached the lock-up stage when wet trades are complete and the environment has been thoroughly dried out.

IMPORTANT: If you have any doubts or concerns about the grade, moisture content or other quality aspects of this product do not install it! Instead, contact your supplier immediately for advice.

Timberwest has no control over the installation process and accepts no responsibility for any part of the installation process.
